Starting in 2006, I served the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department for nine years in multiple roles, including Director for Psychological Resources for OU Student-Athletes (PROS) for five years.  In this role, I provided counseling, performance enhancement, psycho-educational assessment, leadership, and team-building services for OU student-athletes. In addition, I provided oversight to six staff members.

While we loved our time in Oklahoma, my husband and I wanted to raise our children closer to family, leading to a move to our current home in Ankeny, Iowa in August 2015.  I worked for the Iowa State University Student Counseling Services for 9 months and in 2016, started my current role as a part-time sport psychologist for the University of Iowa Athletics Department.

I have been active in numerous national efforts at promoting our field; presenting at national conferences, participating in the NCAA Task Force to Advance Mental Health Best Practices Strategies, and serving as a Subject Matter Expert for the AASP Job Task Analysis.  I have extensive experience teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses on student-athlete development and mental health, performance enhancement, leadership, and college student-athlete adjustment/preparation.

My volleyball career at USC Upstate (formerly University of South Carolina – Spartanburg) sparked my interest in the integration of psychology and sport and following graduation there, I pursued and received a master’s degree in Experimental Psychology from Wake Forest University and a Counseling Psychology Ph.D. (with an emphasis on sport psychology) from the University of North Texas.  I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department and University Counseling Center and my post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department.

I am passionate about assisting elite performers maximize their potential in all areas of life.  The skills that make you an elite athlete help or hinder your growth and my goal is to collaborate with you as you gain insight into your own personal and performance development.  I am currently a Licensed Psychologist in Iowa, a Certified Mental Performance Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), and am listed on the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Sport Psychology Registry.  I look forward to getting to know you!
